"Die Materialschlacht"
by Hüttemann, Felix (2015)
Abstract
The article deals with the battle of material in World War One as a turning point of the relationship between man and technical object as seen, philosophically totalized and used by Ernst Jünger. In Jünger’s totalisation of work in his essays ›Die Totale Mobilmachung‹ and ›Der Arbeiter‹ are recognizable anticipations of cybernetic themes and philosophy. These anticipations are proved under the circumstances of Jünger’s work of the nineteen twenties and thirties.
