"The Beginning and the Sabbath: Indicators for the Perpetuity of the Sabbath"

by Hauck, Kyle (2017)

Abstract

Is the Sabbath an institution that is only binding on the Jewish people or is there more in its scope? The idea of the Sabbath and whether or not it is binding on all people has been the subject of much debate, especially due to the rise of dispensationalism and New Covenant Theology. Our primary source for such a discussion is Scripture itself. Scripture gives indicators that the Sabbath is a binding institution for all mankind until the time of the new creation. One such indicator is the nature of God’s work and Sabbath in Genesis 1–2 and its obligatory pattern for mankind as God’s vice-regent and image.
