"The Steady State and Ecological Salvation: A Thermodynamic Analysis"
by Georgescu-Roegen, Nicholas (1977)
Abstract
The idea of ecological salvation through a stationary world is a symptom of the attraction which absence of change has always had for the scholarly mind. The world cannot, however, be a thermodynamic steady state, whether open or closed. A novel law of thermodynamics refutes the last case. The need is for a new scale of bioeconomic values.
